What is this site about, and who the heck is Jason?

You may be wondering what the heck this site is about and who exactly I am. My name is Jason and I'm currently going to school to become a dentist. I've always been somewhat fascinated by the dental industry and was encouraged to become a dentist myself after watching my father wrap up his successful career.  Im not looking to work in general dentistry but rather cosmetic dentistry. For those of you who know very little about this dental industry, I've included an article below for your reference. I will be bascially writing anything dental-oriented which I think you guy's may be interested in. So without further ado, let's get to learning a thing or two.

A lot of people sadly don't like the look of their teeth. They are either crooked or have some other sort of disfiguring problems. Cosmetic dentistry can help quickly fix these problems and is gaining quick popularity. In most cases, it is nto very necessary. However, it can have a dramatic effect on one's self-esteem. Below are some of the procedures which are commonly available in cosmetic dentistry.

Dental crowns- these are basically "housings" that fit over your existing teeth. They are used to protect formerly decayed teeteh against further problems. They can also be used to repair chipped teeth or teeth that once housed large fillings. They may also be used to fill in space between teeth. A dentist needs to take a mold of your teeth before he can outfit them with crowns. This usual calls for more than one visit. Crowns are made out of porcelain and other strong materials (often fused with metals).

Teeth whitening- This is a procedure wherein a dentist applies a special gel to a patients teeth and activates it with a laser to remove discoloration adn such. It can be done both in office and at a patient's home. Costs can greatly vary for this procedure.

Dental implants- these are esentially tooth root replacements. Implants are typically made of titanium and are fused with a patient's bone to allow for tooth replacement. They are usually attached to fake teeth to complete the repair of a patient's mouth.

Dental veneers - These are thin sheets of porcelain made to mimic actual teeth. They can be used to mask tooth stains, crooked teeth, etc. They are once again manufactured in a lab and require some rather invasive installation work. Enamel is removed from the front of the teeth to allow for installation.

Tooth bonding- this is used to repair chipped teeth. The dentist applies a composite material to the tooth to fill in a void. It is often an inexpensive procedure but allows for quick results.

Hope this gives everyone an idea of what I do! You can browse around the site more to get a greater idea of what is involved in this dental field.
